Another one that\u2019s based on scarily true events, Rillington Place tells the story of serial killer John Christie (Tim Roth). During the 1940s and 1950s, Christie murdered at least eight people, including his wife Ethel Christie (played by Samantha Morton) and his tenant Beryl Evans (Jodie Comer), inside his flat in London\u2019s Notting Hill. Beryl\u2019s husband Timothy Evans (Nico Mirallegro) was later wrongfully executed for her murder, before Christie\u2019s crimes were finally uncovered. For a crime drama with a comedic edge, you can\u2019t beat Deadloch. Fastidious and hard-working Senior Sergeant Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) is thrown together with Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami), a crude and disorganised Senior Investigator and, needless to say, the pair couldn\u2019t be more different. But despite their conflicting personalities, they must put their differences aside and learn to tolerate each other when a local man turns up dead in the sleepy Tasmanian town of Deadloch. Living at the Rectory alongside his widowed mother Audrey (Amanda Redman) and two dachshunds, life is as predictable as it can be. But when he announces a plan to install a lavatory in church, the parish suddenly becomes divided – and a body is found at the back of the church. The perfect cosy crime series.
