Dr. Rani and her colleagues showed that “radiologic imaging overestimated the stage in 75 cases (46.6%) and underestimated it in 26 cases (16.1%).” The results also demonstrated a “weak” (r=0.383) but statistically significant correlation (P=0.001) between radiologic and pathologic staging.

In reflecting on the results, the investigators highlighted that “mammogram and MRI tended to overestimate size for all tumor types,” whereas ultrasound imaging “tended to underestimate tumor size.” In contrast, pathologic examination “tended to overestimate tumor size.”

Dr. Rani and her colleagues concluded that “the high odds of discordance” observed in preoperative breast cancer staging through the observed imaging modalities “are therefore important to plan for treatment.”

Preoperative breast cancer imaging modalities and “gross examination” demonstrated a high rate of inconsistency between “radiological and pathological…

[10
134,111,139,69
0":"post-371948","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-health","8":"tag-health","9":"tag-new-zealand","10":"tag-newzealand","11":"tag-nz
["GET
