Two people were arrested after a vehicle pulled over for speeding was searched in Auckland, leading to the discovery of nitrous oxide cannisters and a gun. <\/p>\n
The speeding Honda was pulled over on Auckland’s Green Lane West at around 5.30pm yesterday. <\/p>\n
\u201cAs an officer was approaching the vehicle, he has observed the two occupants allegedly trying to hide balloons,\u201d Senior Sergeant Dave Plunkett said. <\/p>\n
A search of the Honda was carried out, resulting in a loaded sawn-off rifle and four “large cannisters” of nitrous oxide (nangs) being found. <\/p>\n
There are calls for urgent reform, amid an increase in the amount of nitrous oxide being imported. (Source: 1News)<\/p>\n
Both the driver, 20, and passenger 21, were arrested on the roadside. <\/p>\n
The driver was charged with unlawful possession of a pistol, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a psychoactive substance, and careless driving.<\/p>\n
