A new clip from the highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, titled \u201cMichael,\u201d was released Wednesday and featured star Jaafar Jackson\u2019s take on \u201cBillie Jean.\u201d And, after being viewed over 8 million times, the consensus for the sneak peek was resoundingly negative.<\/p>\n

In the clip, Jackson, the real-life nephew of the late King of Pop, can be seen wearing his uncle\u2019s signature white glove and black bedazzled jacket while singing the 1983 hit, \u201cBillie Jean.\u201d The scene is a recreation of the late Jackson\u2019s famed performance for \u201cMotown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever,\u201d where he debuted his famous moonwalk move for the first time.<\/p>\n

While the younger Jackson successfully recreates the significant pop culture moment beat for beat, impressively pulling out his own moonwalk, many fans voiced their displeasure at the way the footage was edited.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiterally the least inspired cinematography I\u2019ve ever seen,\u201d one critic wrote<\/a> in response to the clip\u2019s release. Another chimed<\/a> in with, \u201cDawg how is actual footage of \u2018motown 25\u2019 looking way better than this clip???\u201d A third commented<\/a>, \u201cThe shots to the audience destroys the momentum. Dude what were they thinking?\u201d<\/p>\n

Others compared the snippet to the aesthetic of 2018\u2019s Freddie Mercury biopic, \u201cBohemian Rhapsody.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m getting serious \u2018Bohemian Rhapsody\u2019 vibes,\u201d one person noted<\/a> on X. \u201cShot and cut like s\u2013t, but the incredible magic of the original artist the film is based on will be enough for general audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though, one critic was far less kind, bluntly writing, \u201cThis is f\u2013king atrocious. Holy s\u2013t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet, not everyone was hard on the new sneak peek, with one fan voicing optimism for the film\u2019s release. \u201cYou guys are not ready for this movie\u2019s international box office numbers,\u201d the supporter said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael,\u201d which is set to hit theaters on April 24, has faced its fair share of drama leading up to the release, including millions in reshoots, a scrapped final act, a delayed release and more.<\/p>\n

The film was directed by Antoine Fuqua, written by John Logan and stars Jackson as the titular pop star, Colman Domingo as patriarch Joe Jackson, Nia Long as matriarch Katherine Jackson and Miles Teller as John Branca.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael\u201d moonwalks into theaters on April 24, 2026.<\/p>\n
