The companies also reaffirmed that Snap\u2019s next-gen Specs are coming \u201clater this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Specs Inc, which was formed by Snap in January to handle its XR efforts, is working with Qualcomm in what the companies call a \u201clong-term strategic roadmap\u201d which aims to rapidly bring things like \u201con-device AI, cutting-edge graphics, and advanced multiuser digital experiences,\u201d the companies said in a joint press statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSnap Inc. and Qualcomm Technologies have a strong track record of powering advanced immersive technology. This agreement builds on more than five years of innovation and collaboration, as Snapdragon platforms have powered multiple previous generations of Snap\u2019s Spectacles,\u201d the companies said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PeridotBeyond-snap.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-122588\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/PeridotBeyond-snap.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\"  \/><\/a>Image courtesy Snap Inc, Niantic<\/p>\n<p>Snap\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.snap.com\/launch-specs-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> sixth gen Specs<\/a> are looking to appeal to consumers while also possibly also frontrunning its largest competitors, including Meta, Samsung, Google, and Apple.<\/p>\n<p>While Snap hasn\u2019t shown off its next-gen Specs yet, the company seems to be leaning heavily into the device\u2019s built-in AI, something that \u201cuses its understanding of you and your world to help get things done on your behalf while protecting and respecting your privacy,\u201d Snap said earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next era of computing will be defined by devices that understand what you see, hear and say as well as context, and respond instantly to the world around you,\u201d said\u00a0 Qualcomm President and CEO\u00a0Cristiano Amon. \u201cOur work on future generations of Specs will enable power-efficient interactive AR devices that deliver agentic experiences that feel natural, intuitive and integrate seamlessly into daily life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aiming for release sometime this year, the next iteration of Spec will technically be the company\u2019s second pair of AR glasses, following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadtovr.com\/snap-consumer-ar-glasses-spectacles-release-date\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">its fifth-gen release in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Besides Snap noting the new AR device will be smaller and lighter, feature see-through AR optics, and be powered by some form of Snapdragon XR SoC, its specs are largely still a mystery.<\/p>\n<p>Confused about the smart glasses and AR glasses?
