\n\t\u201cEuphoria<\/a>\u201d creator Sam Levinson<\/a> focused much of the HBO series\u2019 third season around Fezco, the character played by Angus Cloud<\/a>, before the actor\u2019s death from a fentanyl overdose in July 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with the New York Times<\/a>, Levinson spoke about a version of Season 3 that he wrote before the WGA strike began in May 2023. \u201cAngus was the backbone of that season. I used to even talk to him about it because I wanted him to stay clean,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I would invite him over and I\u2019d tell him what the plans were for the character. I\u2019d say, look, he\u2019s been in prison for a few years, so you\u2019ve got to get that yoked prison body. Because I wanted him to start working out and taking care of himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLevinson also revealed that in his original scripts for Season 1, Fez died at the end, but he felt he \u201ccouldn\u2019t do it,\u201d saying that Cloud \u201cneeded something to look forward to or else he might get lost in the world.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd then when I was writing Season 2 and I got to the end, I thought, OK, I\u2019m gonna have to do it this time: Fezco\u2019s gonna die,\u201d Levinson continued. \u201cAnd as we got closer, I just couldn\u2019t do it, especially with everything we\u2019d gone through. I wanted him to have something to hold onto, a tangible goal for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the red carpet premiere for Season 3, Levinson spoke to Variety about Cloud\u2019s death. \u201cLosing Angus was really hard for us as a production.
