The Supercars champions have plugged a sponsorship gap on Zach Bates\u2019 Matt Stone Racing Camaro with branding for their Lucky Dogs podcast.<\/p>\n
Brown and Kostecki have previously awarded small sponsorships to drivers in lower categories.<\/p>\n
The former has also backed Bates throughout his career, including this year via his Will Brown Transport company, and was behind the Taupo move.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had no idea it was actually happening until it was done and I got told I had to pay a bill,\u201d laughed Kostecki.<\/p>\n
Brown explained the idea had only come together the night before track action kicked-off at the venue.<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes you\u2019ve got to make an executive decision and I made that decision,\u201d smiled Brown.<\/p>\n

Enter Now. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI knew Batesy had his rear guards free for this weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cHe had a sponsor that was pretty much committed and then ended up pulling out, because it\u2019s generally a little bit harder to get sponsors over in New Zealand.<\/p>\n \u201cTrico didn\u2019t stay onboard so I thought maybe we could help him out and also get our branding on the car.<\/p>\n \u201cReally that\u2019s why we started the podcast. We sponsored a few kids last year and are looking at doing it again with the sponsorship we get on.<\/p>\n \u201cWe wanted to help Batesy out and also get onboard a Supercar.\u201d<\/p>\n Bates expressed his gratitude for the support in a light-hearted social media video on Friday.<\/p>\n \u201cHopefully you guys won\u2019t hit me as hard now because we don\u2019t want to damage the logo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Bates has made a promising if eventful start to his Supercars career that included receiving a hit from Kostecki in his debut race.<\/p>\n \u201cI hope one of us don\u2019t run into him this weekend, or at least his rear guard!\u201d added Brown.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s good to have Lucky Dogs on the Supercar and Brodie is paying the bill, so it\u2019s even better.\u201d<\/p>\n Lucky Dogs backing also appears on the Toyota 86 Championship NZ entry of Cooper Barnes this weekend.<\/p>\n The podcast is a partnership between Brown, Kostecki and social media manager\/producer Ainsle McCormick.<\/p>\n![\"\"\/](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Speedcafe-Comp-1_2026_Speedcafe-Graphics_Leaderboard_WIP1.jpg\")
