Netflix has scrapped its sports drama Perfect after leading actress Millie Bobby Brown walked away from the project. <\/p>\n

The streaming giant confirmed to Deadline that the film will no longer proceed following the 22-year-old’s unexpected departure, which sources attribute to creative disagreements with the production team.<\/p>\n

The biopic had been scheduled to commence filming this summer, with Ms Brown attached both as star and executive producer. <\/p>\n

The project was first announced in September 2025, with Nik Bower of Riverstone Pictures and Thomas Benski of Magna Studios serving as lead producers. <\/p>\n

Ms Brown had been set to portray Kerri Strug, the American gymnast who became a national hero as part of the 1996 “Magnificent Seven” squad that claimed gold in Atlanta. <\/p>\n

Gia Coppola was originally attached to direct the picture, with Ronnie Sandahl penning the screenplay.<\/p>\n

However, Ms Coppola had also recently stepped away from the production prior to its cancellation.<\/p>\n

The film would have chronicled Ms Strug’s remarkable determination during the Atlanta Olympics, where at just 18 years old she executed her vault routine despite suffering from an ankle injury, helping secure victory for her teammates.<\/p>\n

Ms Strug’s vault that evening produced one of the most enduring images in Olympic history.<\/p>\n

After landing her routine flawlessly, her ankle collapsed beneath her, and coach Bela Karolyi was forced to carry her from the competition floor.<\/p>\n

Her teammates insisted she join them for the medal ceremony, where Karolyi once again helped transport her to the podium. <\/p>\n

The moment transformed Ms Strug into a national icon, leading to appearances on chat programmes and a Saturday Night Live parody, whilst her image graced the front of Wheaties cereal boxes.<\/p>\n

Following her gymnastics career, Ms Strug pursued a markedly different path, working as a primary school teacher before taking up various positions within the White House and the Justice Department.<\/p>\n

Despite the collapse of Perfect, Ms Brown’s partnership with Netflix remains robust, with several productions in the pipeline. <\/p>\n

The third instalment of the Enola Holmes franchise, in which she portrays the clever younger sibling of Sherlock Holmes, is due to premiere on the platform this summer.<\/p>\n

The actress has also completed work on the romantic comedy Just Picture It, where she serves as both star and producer alongside Gabriel LaBelle. <\/p>\n

Additionally, Nineteen Steps, an adaptation of Brown’s own debut novel, is among her forthcoming projects for the streamer.<\/p>\n
