{"id":374639,"date":"2026-04-11T14:22:34","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T14:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/374639\/"},"modified":"2026-04-11T14:22:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T14:22:34","slug":"indian-man-in-akl-publicly-shamed-for-roadside-dumping-speaks-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/374639\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian man in Akl publicly shamed for roadside dumping speaks out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">An Indian-origin Auckland man, Mr A (name withheld), says he has lodged complaints with Police and raised concerns with Netsafe after a video of him and a friend allegedly attempting to dump cardboard in Auckland went viral, resulting in abusive phone calls and messages over the past six days.The incident took place on 4 April in Alfriston.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">He also alleges the person who recorded the footage broke his car\u2019s side mirror, raising safety concerns.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/WhatsApp Image 2026-04-10 at 1-49-15 PM-jpeg.jpeg\" width=\"250\" height=\"333\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 0px; width: 250px; height: auto; max-width: 100%;\"  \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">\u201cI have apologised to the Police, I also told them that I am ready to pay the fine (if any) and apologised to the person who made our video,\u201d Mr. A told The Indian Weekender.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">Police have confirmed they received a report relating to the incident.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">\u201cPolice can confirm they received a report in relation to an incident in Alfriston earlier this month,\u201d a spokesperson told The Indian Weekender.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">They added that enquiries are in the early stages to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold;\">How the situation unfolded<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">Mr A shared with The Indian Weekender, that he had been out with a friend intending to dispose of three sofa-sized cardboard pieces before a function at their home on 5 April, and had been searching for recycling facilities in Manurewa and Papakura. He said the facilities were closed due to the public holiday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">On their return, Mr. A said they attempted to leave the cardboard on a grassy and muddy area, believing it would decompose over time, before being confronted by a passing driver.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">\u201cWithin 15 seconds, a car stopped in front of ours and a man got out with a phone camera, started recording and abusing,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold;\">\u201cDon\u2019t come to our country and litter you m**\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">The video begins with the recorder saying, \u201cYou f** A**\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">In the video, the recorder can also be heard confronting the pair, saying, \u201cdon\u2019t come to our country and litter you m**\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">The post, which has been widely shared, carried the caption that said, \u201cWhy do we put up with the freaking people. Import the third world and become the third world\u2026,\u201d and has amassed about 7.4K Facebook likes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">In the video, Mr A is seen responding, \u201cNo no, we are taking it,\u201d before opening the boot of the car to put the cardboard back and apologising.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.59996; background-color: #ffffff; font-size: 20px;\">\u201cDon\u2019t be sorry.
