The Tigers were exceptional in the opening 40, but we’ve already seen multiple times this weekend what happens when you take your foot off the gas. The half has started well for the hosts, with the Knights turning the ball over in the first set of six. Wests Tigers 28 – Knights 4.

Half-time: There is no denying the Tigers this time, with the hosts continuing to run rampant down the right edge. Jahream Bula got on the outside of Wilson De Courcey to slice through the defensive line and score the try in the final play of the first half. It was a dominant 40 minutes from Benji Marshall’s men, with four of their five tries coming down the right flank. Newcastle have plenty of work to do after the break if they are to get back into the contest. Wests Tigers 28 – Knights 4.

37th minute: We’re off to the Bunker after the Tigers attempted to pull off another spectacular try. Patrick Herbert was in the thick of the action again, producing an unconventional pass to keep the play alive on the last. The ball found its way into Heamasi Makasini’s hands, who took on the defence on his way to the try line. Makasini hit the deck and advanced the ball forward, but the Bunker ruled the tackle was complete before he reached the try-line and the Knights breathe a big sigh of relief. Wests Tigers 22 – Knights 0.

35th minute: Patrick Herbert set up a try earlier in the half, now he’s got one of his own after the Tigers capitalised on a big overlap down the right edge.
