TTArtisan has announced the AF 17mm f\/1.8 Air, a compact and lightweight wide-angle prime designed for APS-C cameras.<\/p>\n

Available for Sony E and Fujifilm X mount, the new lens is aimed at photographers who want a small, everyday option for street, travel, and general use\u2014without adding much weight to their kit.<\/p>\n

A Small, Affordable Wide-Angle Prime<\/p>\n

Priced at just $148, the 17mm f\/1.8 Air sits firmly in the budget category, making it an accessible option for users of cameras like the Fujifilm X-M5, Sony a6700, or FX30.<\/p>\n

On APS-C, the lens offers an effective focal length of around 25mm, delivering a natural wide-angle perspective with an 81-degree field of view. Combined with its f\/1.8 aperture, it should be capable in low-light situations and useful for casual video or vlogging setups.<\/p>\n

The lens features a 14-element, 10-group optical design that includes three high-refractive index elements and two extra-low dispersion elements.<\/p>\n

TTArtisan says this setup is designed to maintain sharpness while controlling aberrations and preserving natural color. The six-blade aperture is also expected to produce soft background blur and six-point sunstars when stopped down.<\/p>\n

Autofocus and Handling<\/p>\n

Autofocus is handled by a stepping motor, which the company says provides fast and quiet performance for both stills and video.<\/p>\n

The lens can focus as close as 0.18 meters, allowing for more creative close-up shots with a wide-angle perspective. It also supports subject detection and tracking when paired with compatible camera bodies.<\/p>\n

One of the standout aspects of the lens is its size. It weighs just 161 grams and measures 47mm in length, making it well-suited for compact camera setups.<\/p>\n

Despite its small footprint, the lens features an all-metal body, along with both a manual focus ring and an aperture ring. It uses standard 52mm filters.<\/p>\n
