The Hawkes are desperate for dry ground for Briasa and have said he won\u2019t run if the track is rain-affected.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe came around the corner, at the 300m he smoked up and I thought, \u2018We\u2019re in here, we\u2019re home\u2019. If you look at him at the 400m I thought he was going better than the winner, Joliestar, but he just didn\u2019t let down on the wet going,\u201d co-trainer Wayne Hawkes told SEN following the T.J. Smith Stakes.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople will say, ‘hang on, he\u2019s won on the heavy and has wet track form\u2019. The difference is, you\u2019re racing horses when you\u2019re on the way up and it was at Kembla Grange when he won on a wet track.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe won\u2019t be running him on a wet track again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sydney\u2019s forecast this week is glorious, with warm weather and sunshine predicted up until race day, but that, of course, can change.<\/p>\n
