{"id":376714,"date":"2026-04-13T02:37:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T02:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/376714\/"},"modified":"2026-04-13T02:37:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T02:37:10","slug":"brendan-boyle-appointed-social-investment-agency-chief-executive-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/376714\/","title":{"rendered":"Brendan Boyle appointed Social Investment Agency chief executive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/4JQ8JRH_Boyle_jpg.jpeg\" width=\"1050\" height=\"656\" alt=\"Brendan Boyle\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"photo-captioned__information\">\nSenior public sector leader Brendan Boyle (file image).<br \/>\nPhoto: RNZ\n<\/p>\n<p>Senior public sector leader Brendan Boyle has been appointed as the Acting Secretary and chief executive for the Social Investment Agency.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment comes about five months after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rnz.co.nz\/news\/political\/580721\/former-police-boss-andrew-coster-resigns-as-head-of-the-social-investment-agency\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">resignation of former SIA chief executive Andrew Coster<\/a> following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rnz.co.nz\/news\/national\/578565\/inside-a-cover-up-the-top-cops-the-quasi-investigation-and-the-officers-who-stood-up\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">scathing Independent Police Conduct Authority report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A Social Investment Agency spokesperson confirmed the appointment to RNZ, with Boyle set to start on 11 May.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said Boyle had &#8220;extensive experience across policy, regulation, governance, digital technology, and service delivery in large organisations&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His previous roles include Chief Executive of the Ministry of Social Development, the Department of Internal Affairs, and Land Information New Zealand. Most recently, he served as Acting Chief Executive of Pharmac.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This appointment provides continuity and certainty for the agency and supports SIA to continue its work as social investment becomes an increasingly important approach across the public service.
