Hato Hone St John sent four ambulances, two rapid response vehicles and an operations manager to the crash, which police said was between Pukete and River Rds.<\/p>\n

Fire and Emergency New Zealand sent two pump trucks and a specialist rescue vehicle, with brigades from Te Rapa, Chartwell and Hamilton attending.<\/p>\n

The teams were on the scene for about half an hour and extracted one person, a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Wairere Drive was blocked yesterday while police examined the scene. <\/p>\n

A person driving past the crash, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Waikato Herald it was a \u201cvery scary scene\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a vehicle stuck under the left-hand side wheel [of the truck],\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole front of the vehicle was crushed. There were four [people] laying on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inspector Scott Miller said police have extended their condolences to the families of all those involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would also like to thank the members of the public who came to the aid of those who were injured and assisted at the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
