They\u2019re forced to return to their own respective crap shacks to spend the week alone before reuniting to deliver their final decisions at mesmerising locations, such as a creepy forest on the side of the Hume Highway and an abandoned mansion.<\/p>\n
We know Rachel and Steven stay together. Same with Filip and Stella. In fact, Filip even proposes. But we\u2019re not here for happy endings. We\u2019re here for carnage, tears and public humiliation.<\/p>\n
Enter: Bec and Danny. And Alissa and David.<\/p>\n
Alissa\u2019s character arc is now complete: From wide-eyed underdog to manipulating villain. Even the other contestants can see it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a dictatorship, not a relationship,\u201d Danny observes about how Alissa treats David.<\/p>\n
After David desperately fought for his relationship at last night\u2019s dinner party \u2013 putting aside all ego and dignity to drop to one knee and return his wife\u2019s discarded wedding ring \u2013 Alissa iced him out completely.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s someone I don\u2019t recognise. She\u2019s cold. I mean nothing to her,\u201d David tells us. \u201cRight now, I\u2019m questioning whether she ever wanted this to start with.\u201d<\/p>\n
Weirdly, Alissa genuinely thinks we\u2019re all on her side.<\/p>\n
\u201cDavid being upset with that final test date was a big red flag for me,\u201d she snips.<\/p>\n
Oh, you mean the final test date where you flirted with another man, asked him to drop his pants, then mocked your husband behind his back before bragging you\u2019re only \u201c70% committed\u201d to your relationship? Yes, definitely some red flags present. But we\u2019re not sure they belong to David.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s toxic. And I\u2019m, like, nup \u2013 in the bin,\u201d she declares.<\/p>\n
Alissa\u2019s goal seems clear: Make David seem problematic so she looks like a hero by dumping him.<\/p>\n
What she doesn\u2019t anticipate? David exposing how problematic she is.<\/p>\n
Alissa is absolutely certain she holds all the cards.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe told me he loved me. The ball is in my court today,\u201d she says smugly.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it breaks my heart knowing I\u2019m going to be breaking his heart at the end of this.\u201d<\/p>\n
We cackle maniacally as we anticipate the blindsiding we\u2019re about to witness.<\/p>\n
David arrives first at what appears to be a haunted house.<\/p>\n
A coven of witches has absolutely resided here.<\/p>\n
Producers spare no expense, hiring a smoke machine for his entrance.<\/p>\n
The smoke machine is completely necessary.<\/p>\n
When Alissa arrives, he wastes no time reciting his speech. He brings up everything \u2013 how she browbeat him into silence, too scared to voice concerns lest she scream at him. <\/p>\n
How she flirted on the final test and spoke poorly about him behind his back.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did everything you said you wanted. I gave you space. And I never tried to change you,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n
\u201cBut what I\u2019ve come to understand is that with you, there was no version of me that could win. If I pushed harder, I would\u2019ve been called controlling. <\/p>\n
\u201cIf I held back, I was labelled disconnected. I\u2019ve been patient and I\u2019ve done a lot of the listening. But I\u2019m done listening.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continues: \u201cSo today, I\u2019m not walking away because I\u2019ve stopped loving you, Alissa. I\u2019m walking away because loving you shouldn\u2019t mean losing myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
And just like that, he dumps her \u2013 completely ruining her moment where she thought she\u2019d get to reject him.<\/p>\n
Part 1 of tonight\u2019s double dumping feature.<\/p>\n
As if it couldn\u2019t be any more glorious, he then walks out of the haunted house \u2013 not even giving Alissa a chance to read her own speech.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re not gonna listen to MY vows?\u201d she calls after him.<\/p>\n
He ignores her and keeps walking.<\/p>\n
Alissa stands alone in the empty haunted house. <\/p>\n
\u201cWow, I just wasted three months of my life and he won\u2019t even listen to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exact moment Alissa realises the ball is not, in fact, in her court.<\/p>\n
Then, her instincts as a social media manager and fledgling influencer kick in. She wants a moment. So she plays to the cameras and starts dramatically reading her vows to absolutely nobody.<\/p>\n
\u201cDavid. Wow. I can\u2019t believe we\u2019re at the end of this experiment,\u201d she recites, her usually sweet sunny voice layered with petulant disdain.<\/p>\n
We don\u2019t hang around to hear the rest of her speech. Partly because we don\u2019t want to get attacked by a ghost. <\/p>\n
But mostly because we don\u2019t care. We skip out of the haunted house and catch an Uber down the highway, veering off into a forest where Bec and Danny\u2019s vows are taking place.<\/p>\n
Bye, girl! Watch out for ghosts xx<\/p>\n
Bec\u2019s convinced Danny is about to declare his undying love.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Danny loves me. I think he does,\u201d she gushes to us. <\/p>\n
\u201cToday could be absolutely life-changing for me. It could literally be the beginning of the rest of my life. <\/p>\n
\u201cI am manifesting that it\u2019s gonna be the best day ever and I\u2019m gonna hear exactly what I hope to hear and we\u2019ll run off into the future together.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cue destruction in five, four, three, two \u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cYou were on the attack, you were vulgar. It seemed like you were seeking out drama. I was embarrassed and uncomfortable,\u201d Danny says in his vows, bringing up Bec\u2019s weeks-long rap sheet of misdemeanours.<\/p>\n
We watch Bec\u2019s face immediately change as she realises where this is heading.<\/p>\n
Surprise!
Kinda sad he didn\u2019t mention Bec\u2019s fledgling fingerbang merch empire in his vows.<\/p>\n
He admits that this past week apart, outside of Trash Tower, he hasn\u2019t been missing her. Instead, he has felt relief.<\/p>\n
\u201cBec, I believe you\u2019re my soulmate as a friend, but I\u2019ve realised there\u2019s doubt in my mind if you\u2019re my soulmate as a lover. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so sorry to do this to you but I can\u2019t be your husband anymore. I know this might be hard to hear, but I think we both deserve a happy relationship and \u2026 like, a healthier one. I\u2019m so f***in\u2019 sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n
For once, Bec doesn\u2019t put up a fight. She\u2019s clearly hurt, but she wants to leave before the tears start flowing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything more to say. Okay,\u201d she mutters before stumbling off into the woods.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was f***in\u2019 brutal,\u201d Danny says.<\/p>\n
Bec\u2019s subdued, vulnerable reaction catches him completely off guard. No aggression, no anger, no swearing or blame-shifting.<\/p>\n
And then, he makes a startling confession.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf she abused me it actually would\u2019ve made it so much easier,\u201d he tells a producer. <\/p>\n
\u201cSee, why couldn\u2019t she have been like that during the experiment? I\u2019d stay with her! It would\u2019ve been so much better if she just twatted me one. <\/p>\n
\u201cLike, how flawlessly did she take that? Why couldn\u2019t she have just been like that the whole way through the experiment? I\u2019d be with the girl!\u201d<\/p>\n
But behind the scenes? Bec\u2019s in the forest, slumped behind a pine tree, throwing a tantrum.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel blindsided! I didn\u2019t think it\u2019d go this way!\u201d she turns to whinge at a producer. <\/p>\n
\u201cI want my phone! I want a flight tonight! F***! Get me out of here now!\u201d<\/p>\n
There she is. The real Bec. Right on schedule.<\/p>\n
Someone flag down the Channel 9 news helicopter and winch her out of the woods.<\/p>\n
She leaves alone, returning to her $3 million house with a $97,000 mortgage in the most affluent suburb of South Australia.<\/p>\n
