Some of the serious crashes have involved young people, he said.<\/p>\n

In the past 24 hours, two people were killed in a crash in Gisborne<\/a>, one in Auckland<\/a> and another in Christchurch<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Greally said recent wild weather was another reason drivers need to be \u201cpatient, slow down, and never drive distracted or impaired\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMake sure you are always driving to the conditions, slow down on wet roads, and during severe weather events it is best to delay travel where possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

He warned police would continue to target dangerous driving, and motorists could expect to see officers \u201canywhere and anytime\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cRoad safety is everyone\u2019s responsibility,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
