{"id":379387,"date":"2026-04-14T18:35:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T18:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/379387\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T18:35:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T18:35:10","slug":"director-takashi-yamazaki-unveils-godzilla-minus-zero-first-look","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/379387\/","title":{"rendered":"Director Takashi Yamazaki Unveils \u2018Godzilla Minus Zero\u2019 First Look"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDirector <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/takashi-yamazaki\/\" id=\"auto-tag_takashi-yamazaki\" data-tag=\"takashi-yamazaki\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Takashi Yamazaki<\/a>, who won an Oscar in 2023 for Best Visual Effects for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/godzilla\/\" id=\"auto-tag_godzilla\" data-tag=\"godzilla\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Godzilla<\/a> Minus One, took the stage at <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/cinemacon\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cinemacon\" data-tag=\"cinemacon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CinemaCon<\/a> to introduce his next film, Godzilla Minus Zero.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThe journey from Minus to Zero will not be an easy one,\u201d he told the annual confab of exhibitors. \u201cRight now, we are pouring all of our technology into this new story of desperation and hope to theaters around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn Minus One, post-war Japan was flattened by Godzilla\u2019s attacks. People struggled to rise again. \u201cBut in this new film, an even deeper desperation will descend upon Japan and the Shikishima family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIt also doesn\u2019t look great for New York City. The tail end of the first look clip shows the monster right behind the Statue Of Liberty \u2014 leading to audible gasps from the audience in the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The films opens Stateside. The early footage shows the giant lizard in the water and out, mobbed streets, scientists in labs and a grieving mother, interspersed with shots of director and cast on set.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/01\/godzilla-minus-zero-release-date-1236678267\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GKids, which is now owned by Toho, is planning a wide theatrical release across North America beginning Nov. 6.<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/godzilla-minus-one\/\" id=\"auto-tag_godzilla-minus-one\" data-tag=\"godzilla-minus-one\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Godzilla Minus One<\/a>\u00a0opened to $11.4M Stateside and went on to make north of $57 million at the domestic B.O.
