{"id":379739,"date":"2026-04-14T23:36:22","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T23:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/379739\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T23:36:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T23:36:22","slug":"boyle-gets-dream-gig-good-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/379739\/","title":{"rendered":"Boyle gets dream gig &#8211; Good Returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>David Boyle has been appointed as the new Retirement Commissioner takimng over from Jane Wrightson.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday, April 14th 2026, 8:11PM <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/comment_dull.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" \/> <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Boyle_David_Mint.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>David Boyle, who has had a strong focus on retirement savings during his extensive experience in the public and private sectors, has been appointed as Retirement Commissioner.<\/p>\n<p>Commerce Minister Cameron Brewer says Boyle \u201cplayed a key role in establishing KiwiSaver at ING and is currently the general manager of KiwiSaver at Fisher Funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith our much-loved Baby Boomers now somewhere between 62 and 80 years of age, issues around retirement savings and caring for our seniors are only growing in prominence. Likewise, the role of the Retirement Commissioner continues to increase in importance.<\/p>\n<p>Boyle has also previously worked at the Retirement Commission with a focus on improving financial wellbeing, monitoring of retirement villages, and leading the initial development of the Commission\u2019s \u2018Sorted in Schools\u2019 financial education programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis experience makes him ideally placed to advise the Government on retirement income policy issues and to champion the steps all New Zealanders should be taking to secure a comfortable retirement,\u201d Brewer says.<\/p>\n<p>Boyle is currently chair of children\u2019s charity Stand T\u016b M\u0101ia, has chaired Ng\u0101i Tahu investment scheme Whai Rawa Funds Limited, and was a board member for youth songwriting charity Play it Strange.
