Revealed during Nissan’s “Vision Event” at its global headquarters in Japan, the company says introduction of the Juke EV is a primary component of its strategy to expand its EV offerings in the European market. Since its initial launch in 2010, the Juke has sold approximately 1.5 million units in Europe, establishing itself as a significant model in the compact crossover segment.<\/p>\n

\nThe new Juke swaps the swoops and curves of the two previous models for sharp, angular design that is somehow still swoopy and curvy.<\/p>\n
And in terms of design, well, you sure won’t mistake it for anything else on the road. The Juke EV’s angular lines were inspired by Japanese origami and was previewed by the Hyper Punk concept that was unveiled at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Dominated by straight lines and sharp angles, it basically looks like a photograph of a Toyota C-HR<\/a> that was screwed up and then flattened out again. And we love it.<\/p>\n

The third-generation Juke will be built at Nissan\u2019s Sunderland Plant in the United Kingdom, which currently produces the Leaf. The company has confirmed that the first trial phase of production at the Sunderland facility is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks, and that the manufacturing commitment is supported by its broader regional design and engineering networks located across the UK, Spain, and Germany.<\/p>\n Technologically, the Juke EV will feature Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability, a system designed to allow the vehicle to integrate with the wider energy ecosystem. This technology will also be featured in the upcoming third-generation Leaf<\/a>, and the Juke EV joins a growing electric lineup for Nissan that includes not only the Leaf, a vehicle that has just been put on “indefinite hold” for our market<\/a>, but also the Ariya<\/a>, the Townstar light commercial vehicle, the new Micra<\/a>, and a planned A-segment electric vehicle.<\/p>\n “Juke has always stood for bold design and a willingness to challenge convention. With this third generation, we are bringing that spirit into the electric age,” said Cl\u00edodhna Lyons, Region Vice President, Product, Brand & Marketing Strategy, Nissan AMIEO.<\/p>\n “As our first fully electric Juke, it will help us reach new customers while expanding choice across our electrified range.”<\/p>\n Despite the shift toward full electrification, Nissan says it intends to maintain a flexible approach by continuing to offer its e-Power hybrid technology. Models such as the Qashqai e-Power<\/a> and the current Juke hybrid will remain available to provide an electrified driving experience for customers who do not yet require a plug-in vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n
