Apple Inc. (AAPL<\/a>, Financials<\/a>) might put OLED screens on the next iteration of the iPad Air<\/a>. This would make the tablet’s screen seem better and bring it closer to some of Apple’s more expensive products.The article says that Samsung Display might make the OLED panels, and mass production is scheduled to start at the end of this year or in January 2027. That schedule makes it seem like the new iPad Air could come out in early 2027.The possible changeover is important since OLED screens usually have greater color, deeper contrast, and higher power economy than other types of screens. Apple has already employed OLED panels in some iPads, the iPhone lineup, and the Apple Watch, so it makes sense that the iPad Air will get them too.The revelation comes just a few weeks after Apple released a new iPad Air with the M4 CPU. In March, that device, which supports Apple Intelligence, went on sale. It is nevertheless seen as a step below the company’s Pro devices.The update is less about short-term profits and more on the company’s product plan for investors.
