\n\tVerity<\/a>, one of Colleen Hoover<\/a>\u2018s best-selling novels, is the author\u2019s next project to get a big-screen adaptation, with the film\u2019s first trailer arriving at CinemaCon<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe footage was unveiled during Amazon\u2019s presentation for theater owners and distributors in Las Vegas. Verity\u00a0centers on struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson<\/a>), who is hired by Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett) to complete the remaining books in a series penned by his wife, author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway<\/a>), after she suffers a mysterious accident. Lowen soon learns that a secret unfinished manuscript may reveal clues about the family\u2019s past.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer began with Verity appearing on Call Her Daddy in all her glory; cut to Lowen arriving at her and Jeremy\u2019s stunning mansion and going through her closet before being brought to meet Verity, as she sits incapacitated in a wheelchair. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cCan she speak? Does she even know what\u2019s going on?\u201d Lowen asks Jeremy, as he questions if she would have come if she had known the truth. She begins to go through Verity\u2019s notes, which retell the early days of her relationship with Jeremy \u2014 and is soon tipped off that something is awry, when she sees Verity seemingly move about normally through a window. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI feel like I\u2019m losing my mind,\u201d Lowen panics. That\u2019s elevated when the two women are sitting in front of each other and Verity suddenly grabs Lowen\u2019s face and kisses her, with a smirk as the two pull away. \u201cYou have this perfect life, everything anyone could ever want,\u201d Lowen later says, before declaring, \u201cand I\u2019m going to take it from you, all of it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tMichael Showalter, who previously worked with Hathaway on 2024\u2019s The Idea of You, is directing, with a wide theatrical release<\/a> set for Oct. 2. Ismael Cruz Cord\u00f3va and Brady Wagner also round out the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tHoover self-published\u00a0Verity\u00a0in 2018 before Grand Central Publishing acquired it in 2021, and the book went on to become a\u00a0New York Times\u00a0bestseller. The author serves a producer on the new film, which is her fourth project to be adapted<\/a> in the last few years, following It Ends With Us, Regretting You and Reminders of Him. <\/p>\n
