A truck driver was left with five fractures and will require multiple surgeries following a crash on State Highway 1 that left him in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Craig Clapperton, of Palmerston, was taken to hospital after a crash involving his grain truck and a logging truck north of Hampden.<\/p>\n

His cab was severely damaged and Mr Clapperton was in a critical condition when he was freed from his vehicle by emergency services.<\/p>\n

In a social media post, Mr Clapperton\u2019s wife, Kelly, said he had five fractures on one side of his body and would require multiple surgeries.<\/p>\n

He was looking at an extended stay in Dunedin Hospital.<\/p>\n

A Givealittle<\/a> page has been set up to support the Clappertons.<\/p>\n

As of Thursday morning, the page had raised almost $7000.<\/p>\n
