In the middle of next week, certain Social Security recipients are to be issued their latest monthly benefits, in the final payment on the Social Security Administration\u2019s (SSA) schedule for April 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Who\u2019s getting Social Security on Wednesday, April 22?<\/p>\n

The SSA is to pay out Social Security benefits to recipients born on the 21st to 31st of any month. (NB: If you claim Social Security based on someone else\u2019s employment record, the agency uses the other person\u2019s birthday.)<\/p>\n

Of the just over 70 million Americans who are paid Social Security – whether retirement, disability or survivor benefits – most receive their money on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In April 2026, this birthday-dependent payment cycle is:Born on 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, April 8Born on 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, April 15Born on 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, April 22How much do Social Security beneficiaries get per month?Retired workers: $2,079.49Disabled workers: $1,634.51Survivor benefits: $1,624.37<\/p>\n

Who isn\u2019t paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in April?Some long-term beneficiaries: April 3<\/p>\n

Social Security beneficiaries who began claiming before May 1997 are paid on the third of each month.<\/p>\n

Double beneficiaries: April 3<\/p>\n

Social Security can be combined with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a separate scheme for certain low-income individuals<\/a>. Recipients of both benefits get Social Security on the third, with SSI paid on the first.<\/p>\n

How does Social Security make monthly benefits payments?<\/p>\n

Social Security recipients can update their bank details using the SSA\u2019s online my Social Security<\/a> tool.<\/p>\n
