Coronation Street’s Eileen Grimshaw is mentioned in Todd’s storyline tonight as she finally learns what her son has been going through.<\/p>\n

As Todd settles back into life on the Street after being discharged from hospital, he decides that it’s time to give his mum a call.<\/p>\n

Friday’s scenes see Todd move back to No.11, where he’s supported by George Shuttleworth, Christina Boyd and Mary Taylor.<\/p>\n

Unable to face living at the flat where Theo Silverton subjected him to domestic abuse for months, Todd collects some of his belongings so that he can stay in his old family home for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

“I should give mum a call and fill her in on what’s been going on,” Todd tells his loved ones.<\/p>\n

After disappearing upstairs for a while, Todd returns with an update on Eileen’s response: “She’s livid. She wants to get a flight, tear him limb from limb. <\/p>\n

“Trust me, she would only make things worse.” <\/p>\n

Eileen moved away to join her eldest son Jason in Thailand in June last year, as Sue Cleaver’s 25-year run on Coronation Street<\/a> came to an end.<\/p>\n

“I said very much that I would like Eileen to go off to pastures new, to mirror what I’m doing in a sense. I just think it’s time for a change,” Sue said at the time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“So it was perfect. I’m so happy with the ending. I was so humbled by it and the way it had been written and what it is. I felt very grateful to have such a wonderful ending written. It seemed very, very apt.”<\/p>\n

Next week’s episodes see Todd’s thoughts turn back to Eileen, as he decides to fly out to join her and Jason in Thailand for a while<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As Todd packs his bags to leave, though, Theo isn’t far away. Will Todd get to make his escape?<\/p>\n
