The first round determines rankings for matchplay, while the combined 1440 score decides the continental champions in the target event. Separate medals are also awarded for the matchplay competition.<\/p>\n<p>After 144 arrows, New Zealand archers dominated the rankings across multiple categories.<\/p>\n<p>In recurve men, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/53583\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mitchell Osborne<\/a> topped qualification with 1200 points, finishing ahead of compatriots <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/23463\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ben McLean<\/a> (1192) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/23462\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Finn Matheson<\/a> (1165), completing a New Zealand clean sweep of the top three.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/32275\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nuala Edmundson<\/a> led the recurve women\u2019s field with a score of 1141, narrowly edging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/23458\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Julia Harrison<\/a> (1138), while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/48094\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isabella Matthews<\/a> placed third with 1028, again making it an all-New Zealand podium.<\/p>\n<p>In compound men, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/48093\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hector McNeilly<\/a> secured top seeding with an impressive 1350, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/22483\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Riku Van Tonder<\/a> (1342) and Tahiti\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/49788\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raiarii Teuiau<\/a> (1334). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/57519\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikki Matheson<\/a> led the compound women\u2019s qualification with 1268, just ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/16236\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lisa Walker<\/a> (1264), with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/24197\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beverley Evans<\/a> in third (1188).<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand continued its strong showing in the youth categories, topping multiple under-21 and under-18 events across recurve and compound.<\/p>\n<p>In barebow, Australia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/57549\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Sims<\/a> led the men\u2019s qualification with 1129, while compatriot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldarchery.sport\/athlete\/51660\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">May Hu<\/a> topped the women\u2019s field with 1187.<\/p>\n<p>The competition will continue with team events on Saturday, followed by finals on Sunday, where continental titles will be decided.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The 2026 World Archery Oceania Target Championships opened with qualification rounds, as archers across recurve, compound and barebow&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":384385,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[199474,111,43,139,69],"class_list":{"0":"post-384384","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-zealand","8":"tag-event-coverage","9":"tag-new-zealand","10":"tag-news","11":"tag-newzealand","12":"tag-nz"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/384384","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=384384"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/384384\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/384385"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=384384"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=384384"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=384384"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
