Prince Harry’s eye-opening comments about ‘cleansing myself of my past’ <\/a><\/p>\nThe King\u2019s youngest son told attendees at the conference, which charged \u00a3525 for in-person tickets and \u00a31,250 for platinum access, \u201cWhen I was invited to speak at this summit, I wasn\u2019t sure whether I was expected to speak as someone who, despite everything, has their sh** together.<\/p>\n
\u201cOr as someone who, despite what it may look like, actually doesn\u2019t have his sh** together. But I was struck by something quite simple \u2013 that while my experiences may be unusual, the feelings that come with them are not.\u201d<\/p>\n
As his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, watched from the audience, Harry spoke about the \u201cdisorienting\u201d effects of grief and how difficult it was to process while the world\u2019s media watched on.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my experience, loss is disorienting at any age,\u201d he said. \u201cGrief does not disappear because we ignore it. Experiencing that as a kid while in a goldfish bowl under constant surveillance, yes, that will have its challenges. And without purpose, it can break you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry continued: \u201cThere have been many times when I\u2019ve felt overwhelmed. Times when I\u2019ve felt lost, betrayed, or completely powerless. Times when the pressure \u2013 externally and internally \u2013 felt constant.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd times when, despite everything going on, I still had to show up pretending everything was ok, so as not to let anyone down. For many years I was numb to it, and perhaps that was easier then, but I also didn\u2019t yet have the tools to deal with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The duke added: \u201cFor me, one of the biggest shifts came when I realised that asking for help isn\u2019t a weakness. It\u2019s very much a form of strength.\u201d<\/p>\n
Harry, who is not understood to have received a fee for his address, spoke at the event focused on \u201cleadership, psychosocial safety and human connection in the workplace,\u201d on the couple\u2019s third day of their trip to Australia.<\/p>\n
A profile of Harry on the summit\u2019s website said that he has \u201cdedicated his life to service and uplifting communities, while emphasising the importance of our collective mental health in his philanthropic and advocacy work globally\u201d.<\/p>\n
