clean and could fall off, she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">Thorn claimed some were threatened with being reported to the Nursing Council, at risk of losing their registration, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/northern-advocate\/news\/northland-teachers-and-health-workers-rally-over-staffing-and-support\/VP4NQOZ4BFHPHGXPHBQ3QJZIPY\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/northern-advocate\/news\/northland-teachers-and-health-workers-rally-over-staffing-and-support\/VP4NQOZ4BFHPHGXPHBQ3QJZIPY\/\">stopped some wards from taking part<\/a> in the strike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">She said it was ridiculous Health NZ was now encouraging clinicians who had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-cocktail-of-nasty-bugs-hitting-nzers-right-now\/PPM6AXPBVJEMVKEVTHINXQSLTM\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-cocktail-of-nasty-bugs-hitting-nzers-right-now\/PPM6AXPBVJEMVKEVTHINXQSLTM\/\">an influenza vaccine<\/a> at the hospital to wear a sticker saying \u201cI\u2019ve had a flu jab\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">The stickers were worn by clinicians <a rooms<\/a>, highlighting Health NZ\u2019s inconsistency, Thorn said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThe wearing of stickers is clearly not an issue for Health NZ NZNO industrial action applied for up to four months, from January 1 to April 30, in areas where there was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/northern-advocate\/news\/rats-leaks-and-overcrowding-show-need-for-whangarei-hospital-redevelopment\/ULURXSDEVZESFAGWIMIRSWLTSQ\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/northern-advocate\/news\/rats-leaks-and-overcrowding-show-need-for-whangarei-hospital-redevelopment\/ULURXSDEVZESFAGWIMIRSWLTSQ\/\">significantly high risk to patient vulnerability<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">These included the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), ED and Neonatal ICU, where there was greater risk of sepsis and patient deterioration, and low tolerance for environmental changes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThe wearing of stickers in these areas, and for a sustained period, inherently creates more infection prevention and control, and patient-care risks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">Health NZ said stickers given to the public and staff who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/epidemiologist-says-influenza-vaccine-can-reduce-risk-of-heart-attacks\/MEKOV7COPBGXBPK46MISE2UN2Q\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/epidemiologist-says-influenza-vaccine-can-reduce-risk-of-heart-attacks\/MEKOV7COPBGXBPK46MISE2UN2Q\/\">received flu jabs<\/a> were generally only lasted up to four months, staff intended to put on a new sticker each day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">While she agreed the uniform strike was on high-risk wards, she said those were the areas where safe staffing levels were most important.<\/p>\n<p class=\"npuzLaxKHxgCDhG\" style=\"display:none\">Staff felt the uniform strike \u2013 which did not impact patient care \u2013 was a better way of getting their message across than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/northern-advocate\/news\/northland-public-sector-workers-join-nationwide-mega-strike-over-pay-and-safety\/2NSNBUGWXVHHBDKCXOYFANOZHI\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/northern-advocate\/news\/northland-public-sector-workers-join-nationwide-mega-strike-over-pay-and-safety\/2NSNBUGWXVHHBDKCXOYFANOZHI\/\">a full strike withholding
