From an embarrassing nude mishap to being labelled a \u201cpig\u201d by her own mum, Carrie Bickmore cops brutal feedback in Mick Molloy\u2019s new TV show.<\/p>\n
Molloy has teamed up with his good mate Glenn Robbins for a program called Glenn & Mick\u2019s Celebrity Intervention, which launches on Channel 7 on Monday night.<\/p>\n
The hilarious show (I\u2019ve had a sneak peek, and it\u2019s brilliant) is a cross between This Is Your Life and a celebrity roast, with a different star each week being torn to shreds by showbiz pals, family and friends.<\/p>\n
Carrie Bickmore is the victim in episode one, and the legendary comedian revealed some fun details about that episode when I spoke to him earlier this week.<\/p>\n
Firstly, how did you come up with the concept?<\/p>\n
I was watching celebrity roasts and I thought, these are really brutal. <\/p>\n
I was thinking, times have moved on a bit since those old days \u2026 everything now is guised under the form of \u2018helping\u2019. So I thought, okay, let\u2019s dress it up in a modern context where, under the thin premise that we\u2019re here to help, we\u2019re actually here to sink the boot in just as much.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve got so many great cameos \u2026 everyone\u2019s putting their hand up to come on and slay their friends.<\/p>\n
Carrie Bickmore stars in the first episode. What can we expect to see on Monday night?<\/p>\n
She cops a real grilling over the course of the hour and she takes it pretty well. <\/p>\n
Carrie will be confronted by her son about appearing naked in front of his friends while heavily pregnant. Carrie\u2019s mum presents pictures of her room when she was young. I think her mum uses the words, \u201ca real pig\u201d. <\/p>\n
Peter Helliar wants an explanation as to why he found her bra in his car. And Tommy Little, boy, he lands some stinging blows. <\/p>\n
Carrie gives a bit back too \u2026 you\u2019ll see some fireworks.<\/p>\n
Can you tell me about some other celebs who\u2019ll be subjected to interventions throughout the season?<\/p>\n
Jim Jefferies will be on and we\u2019ll examine his ongoing feud with The Village People.<\/p>\n
Dr Chris Brown is great. He comes on and \u2026 we bring out all the families of pets he\u2019s had put down \u2026 That\u2019s very moving. <\/p>\n
Guy Sebastian comes on. He\u2019s a real good sport. We\u2019ve got some of his old alma mater from Australian Idol coming on. If you take a look back at some of his hairstyles and fashion choices over the years, some of them, I\u2019m not going to lie, haven\u2019t stood the test of time. <\/p>\n
We have an episode with Sam Pang, Andy Lee and Mick Fanning.<\/p>\n
Oh and Hughesy \u2026 that\u2019s a wild episode! People were queuing up to have their say about Hughesy. Let\u2019s just say he gets carried out on a stretcher.<\/p>\n
Did any celebrities pass on the opportunity to appear on the show?<\/p>\n
Salman Rushdie (laughs). We asked Ed Sheeran and Kylie and they said no. Russell Crowe didn\u2019t even return our call. Neither did Cocaine Cassie.<\/p>\n
Most people said yes \u2026 but a couple said, \u201cI might watch the first series and see how it all works\u201d.<\/p>\n
Before I let you go, can you tell me a fun behind-the-scenes story from the series?<\/p>\n
Well, Mick Fanning was so casual that during rehearsals and filming, he took himself off to Bunnings to look at flooring samples. It was only a 30-minute break.<\/p>\n
