Jessica Chastain\u2019s Apple TV <\/a>show will finally see the light of day after it was postponed by the assassination of Charlie Kirk.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Savant, a political thriller starring Chastain as an investigator fighting domestic terrorism, was set to premiere in September 2025, but was pulled after Kirk, a conservative commentator, <\/a>was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University<\/a> that month.<\/p>\n

Now, Chastain has told Variety<\/a> that the streamer will go ahead with releasing the series on the platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore it was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if we\u2019re going to see it,\u2019\u201d the 49-year-old Oscar winner told the outlet Saturday at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony. \u201cBut now I can say, \u2018We\u2019re going to see it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Apple is reportedly planning to release the show in July, according to Variety. The streamer did not immediately return The Independent\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

Created by Melissa James Gibson, the show stars Chastain, Nnamdi Asomugha, Dagmara Domi\u0144czyk, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley and Toussaint Francois Battiste.<\/p>\n

A synopsis for the show states: \u201cThe tense and thrilling series follows an undercover investigator known as \u2018The Savant\u2019 (Jessica Chastain) as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Apple TV announced the show had been postponed, the platform said in a statement: \u201cAfter careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the announcement, Chastain \u2014 who served as an executive producer on the show \u2014 released a statement saying that she disagreed with the decision.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to reach out and let you know that we\u2019re not aligned on the decision to pause the release of The Savant,\u201d she said, in part, in an Instagram post the next day. \u201cI\u2019ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn\u2019t so relevant, unfortunately it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to say that violent incidents in the United States \u201cillustrate a broader mindset that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn\u2019t so relevant, unfortunately it is,\u201d she said. \u201cThe Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

She concluded, \u201cWhile I respect Apple\u2019s decision to pause the release for now, I remain hopeful the show will reach audiences soon.
