Love on the Spectrum<\/a> star Abbey Romeo’s mum Christine revealed why her daughter split from partner of five years David Isaacman<\/a>, putting an end to weeks of speculation.<\/p>\n

In early April it was reported that Abbey and David, one of the reality show’s most beloved couples, broke up over conflicting timelines around marriage.<\/p>\n

In a YouTube video<\/a> filmed with A\ufeffbbey’s cousin Mary, Christine said confirmed there was no dramatic fallout between the couple.<\/p>\n

\ufeff”There was no fight over engagements and rings being thrown around,” Christine said. “I think people are missing the point on Abbey and David.”<\/p>\n

She added the pair realised they wanted different things out of life.<\/p>\n

“David was happy in his way of doing life,” she said. “And Abbey’s was different. And they found that out over this period of time.”<\/p>\n

Abbey and David’s breakup came as a surprise to the show’s loyal fanbase, who had pegged the couple as the pair with the strongest connection on the reality series.<\/p>\n

Christine said the relationship, which lasted four and a half years, was still a great experience for her daughter.<\/p>\n

“I’m grateful for the time they had. It was a fabulous relationship,” she added.<\/p>\n

“For anybody, a five-year relationship is a successful relationship. You learn so much, you grow so much.”<\/p>\n

She also gave some context to the show’s timeline, saying that the most recent season was filmed \ufeffa year ago.<\/p>\n

“Just remember that things are not happening in the chronological order that you might think,” she said.<\/p>\n

Christine got candid, \ufeffadding her daughter’s wanting to get married was misunderstood.<\/p>\n

“Abbey would say she wanted to get married, which really meant, ‘I want to feel like a normal person in the world and do what they do in their relationships,'” she said.<\/p>\n

“It was almost like having a party, not the idea of moving in together.”<\/p>\n

Christine also called for understanding, and for people not to judge the way her daughter or any other people on the spectrum experience dating.<\/p>\n

\ufeff”Please don’t judge autistic relationships as if they were typical,” she said. “So many people on the spectrum are not going to do what typical people do.”<\/p>\n

News first broke that the pair had split via the US Sun<\/a>, with a source close to David confirming the split rumours.<\/p>\n

“They couldn’t come to an agreement on when to get married. She was ready years ago, he still needed time.”<\/p>\n

While the pair are broken up, the source said David is “doing very well.”<\/p>\n

In the latest season of the show, Abbey revealed she was “taking her time” to get married because she didn’t want to end up divorced.<\/p>\n

“\ufeffI don’t want to be a divorced lady like my mum, so that’s why I don’t want to rush it, take my time to get married,” she said.<\/p>\n

When the couple learned their Love on the Spectrum castmates \ufeffMadison Marilla and Tyler White had gotten engaged, Abbey said, “Hopefully we’re next!”<\/p>\n

Abbey and David were the show’s most loved and longest-lasting couple.<\/p>\n

Fans were convinced the pair would be the next to head to the altar after \ufeffMarilla and White got engaged at the end of season 4.<\/p>\n

\ufeffLove on the Spectrum has a reputation for being the most wholesome show on TV.<\/p>\n

The documentary series started in Australia in 2019, before Netflix picked up the series and moved it to the US, airing the US version on the streaming platform in 2022.<\/p>\n
