A new Prince<\/a> single has been released to mark the 10th anniversary of the iconic artist\u2019s death. Listen to \u2018With This Tear\u2019 below.<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter passed away exactly a decade ago<\/a> today, on April 21, 2016, of an accidental\u00a0fentanyl overdose<\/a>. He was 57 years old.<\/p>\n

\u2018With This Tear\u2019 has been shared from Prince\u2019s extensive musical vault via his label NPG Records and Sony Music Entertainment\u2019s Legacy Recordings.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecorded in 1991 at Paisley Park and newly mixed by Chris James, this track finds Prince in full command, writing, producing, and performing every note,\u201d a description reads on Prince\u2019s official social media channels.<\/p>\n

\u201cLater recorded and released by C\u00e9line Dion<\/a>, the song now returns in its original form.\u201d<\/p>\n

James, a Grammy<\/a>-nominated engineer\/producer, is a longtime Prince collaborator who has also worked with the likes of Frank Ocean<\/a>, Miguel<\/a> and Janelle Mon\u00e1e<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As aforementioned, Dion\u2019s version of the emotional piano ballad appeared on her 1992 self-titled album \u2013 her second English-language record.<\/p>\n

Reacting to Prince\u2019s rendition finally landing on streaming platforms, the Canadian singer wrote<\/a>: \u201c\u2018With This Tear\u2019 was a gift from Prince that I will always treasure. I have carried this song with me for so many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo now hear his version, shared for the very first time, feels truly special. Celine xx\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Prince\u2019s estate, \u2018With This Tear\u2019 marks \u201cthe beginning of a number of unreleased Prince recordings scheduled for release this year, as part of a never-before-released Prince album project\u201d. Further details are not yet known.<\/p>\n

Today, Prince\u2019s legendary Paisley Park studios outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is hosting a tribute event, dubbed \u2018A Day 2 Reflect. A Night 2 Remember\u2019. \u201cWe look forward to gathering with you to celebrate Prince\u2019s spirit, music, and the love that continues to bring us together,\u201d a post<\/a> reads.<\/p>\n

The late artist\u2019s estate is staging another celebration in June, including a special live show featuring Prince\u2019s former band members. Chaka Khan<\/a>, Morris Day, Tevin Campbell, Sounds Of Blackness, Cassandra O\u2019Neal and Bobby Z are also among the participating acts. Find more information here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Prince\u2019s estate refused to allow his music to be used in the new Melania documentary<\/a>. Producer Marc Beckman explained that a \u201clawyer that manages the estate\u201d had got in touch, saying: \u201cPrince would never want his song associated with Donald Trump<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
