{"id":391028,"date":"2026-04-21T21:13:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T21:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/391028\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T21:13:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T21:13:09","slug":"building-firm-shearer-put-in-liquidation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/391028\/","title":{"rendered":"Building firm, shearer put in liquidation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two southern businesses have been placed in liquidation for appearing to fail to account for taxation.<\/p>\n<p>Invercargill-based building firm L K McCormack was placed in liquidation in the High Court at Invercargill on March 12, owing an estimated $339,000.<\/p>\n<p>That was on the application of the commissioner of Inland Revenue Te Tari Taake and the official assignee was appointed liquidator.<\/p>\n<p>The company \u2014 whose sole shareholder and director was listed as Logan Kevin McCormack \u2014 had ceased trading, the liquidator\u2019s first report said.<\/p>\n<p>Communication had been established with Mr McCormack to obtain the company\u2019s financial statements and a statement of affairs.<\/p>\n<p>They were investigating whether there were any assets of benefit to creditors, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Wh\u0101nau Shearing was placed in liquidation in the High Court at Dunedin on March 12, also on the application of the commissioner and the official assignee was appointed liquidator.<\/p>\n<p>The company \u2014 whose sole director and shareholder was listed as Philisea Halliday, of Gore \u2014 ceased trading in October 2025 and total claims were estimated at nearly $482,000, the liquidators first report said.<\/p>\n<p>Establishing communication with the director to obtain the company\u2019s financial statements and a statement of affairs was in the works, the report said. \u2014 Allied Media<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two southern businesses have been placed in liquidation for appearing to fail to account for taxation.
