{"id":391427,"date":"2026-04-22T02:43:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T02:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/391427\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T02:43:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T02:43:09","slug":"2026-election-lan-pham-moves-higher-than-two-fellow-mps-in-greens-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/391427\/","title":{"rendered":"2026 election: Lan Pham moves higher than two fellow MPs in Greens list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/4KPVPFI_Sel_Com_2_jpg.jpeg\" width=\"1050\" height=\"700\" alt=\"MPs Gen Bennett (Labour), and Lan Pham (Green) in Select Committee.\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"photo-captioned__information\">\nMPs Gen Bennett (Labour), and Lan Pham (Green) at a Select Committee.<br \/>\nPhoto: VNP \/ Phil Smith\n<\/p>\n<p>The Green Party has confirmed its candidate list for the election, with some current MPs bumped up slightly compared to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rnz.co.nz\/news\/political\/589417\/some-green-mps-suffer-drop-in-draft-list\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an earlier draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That initial list was put together by delegates, to then be voted on by the wider party membership, then reviewed and approved for publication by a group of party representatives.<\/p>\n<p>The final version has Lan Pham leapfrogging Parliamentary colleagues H\u016bhana Lyndon and Lawrence Xu-Nan.<\/p>\n<p>After the draft in March also had Steve Abel &#8211; ranked 9th for the 2023 election &#8211; dropping down to 14th, he is now back up to 12th, swapping places with former Environment Canterbury chairperson Craig Aaron Pauling.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/4KFE5EX_241210_Bridge_5_jpg.jpeg\" width=\"1050\" height=\"700\" alt=\"Steve Abel\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"photo-captioned__information\">\nGreen MP Steve Abel<br \/>\nPhoto: RNZ \/ Samuel Rillstone\n<\/p>\n<p>Lawyer and Treaty of Waitangi activist Tania Waikato &#8211; who put herself forward to represent Te P\u0101ti M\u0101ori&#8217;s co-leaders and MP Hana-R\u0101whiti Maipi-Clarke at the Privileges Committee after the Treaty Principles Bill haka &#8211; has moved up two spots to 13th.<\/p>\n<p>That is a critical spot at this point with the most recent public poll &#8211; by Verian for 1News &#8211; projecting 13 seats for the Greens with 11 percent of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Willis, who came into Parliament at 12th, was ranked by delegates at 16th but has risen to 15th in the final list.<\/p>\n<p>Their elevation comes at the expense of Auckland Pride co-chair Bhen Goodsir, who has dropped from 13th in the draft to 17th.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Davidson, who entered Parliament at 19th after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rnz.co.nz\/news\/political\/572232\/green-mp-benjamin-doyle-resigns-from-parliament\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">resignation of Benjamin Doyle<\/a>, has returned to that spot after the draft list had him at 22nd.<\/p>\n<p>Heather Te Au-Skipworth &#8211; who quit Te P\u0101ti M\u0101ori after being replaced for candidacy of the Ikaroa-R\u0101whiti seat in 2023 by her cousin Meka Whaitiri, who had jumped ship from Labour &#8211; has dropped from 19th to 21st.<\/p>\n<p>Two candidates &#8211; Asher Wilson-Goldman and Nathan Hoturoa Gray &#8211; have also withdrawn their names, with the party saying this was for personal reasons.<\/p>\n<p>The Greens list for 2026 election (with changes since the draft):<\/p>\n<p>1.
