Noah Lyles<\/a> had an underwhelming reaction to seeing his wife, Junelle Bromfield, in her wedding dress <\/a>for the first time, prompting criticism online. <\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Bromfield, 28, posted a video on TikTok of her and Lyles\u2019s first look from their April 4 wedding day<\/a>. During the tradition \u2014 where the bride shows off her gown to her groom in an intimate moment alone before the ceremony \u2014 Lyles, 28, clad in a brown tuxedo and bowtie, stood with his back turned to Bromfield awaiting the big reveal of her wedding dress.<\/p>\n

After Bromfield tapped him on the shoulder, he turned around to see his bride in a beaded white ball gown<\/a>. \u201cOh wow, OK,\u201d he said. \u201cOh wow. I didn\u2019t think you\u2019d go with the princess dress.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy?\u201d she responded, before he looked at the back of her dress and said: \u201cDamn, that\u2019s a train! And we\u2019re supposed to spin in this?\u201d <\/p>\n

After Bromfield confessed that she was feeling nervous, the Olympian reassured her by saying the guests at their luxurious Trenton, Georgia venue looked \u201cgood\u201d and that the day was going to be \u201csuper fun.\u201d <\/p>\n

The TikTok video has since gone viral online, garnering more than two million views. In the comments, many people have criticized Lyles for not complimenting his wife\u2019s gown. <\/p>\n

\u201cDid I miss him saying, \u2018you look beautiful?\u2019 one wrote, while another added: \u201c\u2018Oh wow, OK\u2019 is crazy.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAs an overthinker, this reaction would ruin my whole day, and more,\u201d a third commented. <\/p>\n

The criticism of Lyles’s reaction extended to the popular Fauxmoi Reddit thread, where one person commented, \u201cNo one\u2019s expecting him to immediately get on his knees, sob, and say she looks beautiful and he\u2019s the luckiest man ever. His first few sentences were criticism.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018I didn\u2019t think you\u2019d go with the princess dress\u2019 before you look STUNNING??? I’d walk away right there, but that\u2019s me,\u201d another wrote. <\/p>\n

However, other people gave Lyles the benefit of the doubt, describing how much pressure a bride and groom can feel on the big day. \u201cThese scenarios are awkward as hell, it’s a lot of pressure, and you’re being recorded. It isn’t the best, but it’s okay,\u201d one wrote about the first look. <\/p>\n

The Independent has contacted Lyles for comment. <\/p>\n

Bromfield addressed the criticism in another TikTok video, explaining there was \u201ca lot going on\u201d the morning of her wedding. She said she was \u201cholding back tears\u201d and trying to cheer herself up during the first look after learning that many of her friends couldn\u2019t attend the wedding.<\/p>\n

She added that she was \u201coverstimulated\u201d at the time, so Lyles\u2019 reaction to the dress was just what she needed. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe tried to make me happy. He tried to make me talk,\u201d she said. \u201cIf he did not do that, I probably would’ve been shut off the whole wedding<\/a> because I was processing so much disappointment, mentally and emotionally.\u201d <\/p>\n

The track star also addressed Lyles\u2019 remarks about her wedding dress, noting that she originally told him he was going to wear a mermaid dress because she loves a tight-fitting look. However, she chose a different look for the ceremony because Lyles \u201chates\u201d that style. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe was very surprised that I was in a princess dress, but he liked it. And this is something that we talked about,\u201d she added, before explaining that she had three looks for her wedding day, including a mermaid dress. <\/p>\n
