Fox Entertainment announced that Baywatch will be making a return with a 12-episode reboot<\/p>\n
The series will still be set in Southern California but will include an all-new cast<\/p>\n
This comes 36 years after the original premiered in 1989, starring big names like David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson<\/p>\n
Baywatch is returning to our screens very soon!<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Sept. 23, Fox Entertainment revealed that a reboot of the famous action-drama series has been greenlit nearly 25 years after the original came to an end. According to the press release, it is set to debut with a 12-episode season featuring a \u201chot new cast, adrenaline, romance, slo-mo spectacle and the iconic red swimsuit!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIn its first run, Baywatch defined an entire era of beach life and elevated lifeguards to an iconic status,\u201d Michael Thorn, President of FOX Television Network, said in a press release. \u201cNow, with our partners at Fremantle, this television juggernaut is set for a modern-day comeback.\u201d<\/p>\n

Labeling Baywatch as \u201ca treasured asset\u201d and \u201cone of the most iconic series in television history globally,\u201d the new series will be executive produced by Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Dante Di Loreto, Doug Schwartz and Matt Nix, who will also serve as showrunner.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe series reboot will celebrate the franchise\u2019s enduring legacy, while re-energizing it for today\u2019s global audience,\u201d the official logline reads. \u201cFans can expect all the adrenaline-fueled rescues, tangled relationships, complicated chemistry and beachside heroics that defined the original \u2014 now with an entirely new cast, contemporary trappings, tensions and challenges, and a renewed mission to protect Southern California\u2019s shoreline.\u201d<\/p>\n
The new iteration is slated to arrive in time for the 2026-2027 TV season!<\/p>\n
Baywatch first aired in 1989 and ran for 11 seasons until its conclusion in 2001. The lifeguard drama followed stars like David Hasselhoff<\/a> \u2014 whose often shirtless time as the sand-and-surf sweetheart Mitch Buchannon made him a pop culture icon \u2014 along with beach bombshells Carmen Electra<\/a> as Lani McKenzie and Pamela Anderson<\/a> as C.J.
