She swam under the bridge before a member of the public on a waka ama boat threw her a lifejacket.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe continued swimming until she reached a moored vessel.\u201d <\/p>\n

Nordstrom said officers travelled by dinghy to the vessel. The woman was arrested and brought to shore.<\/p>\n

She told officers she \u201cquickly regretted\u201d her decision once she realised how cold the water was, Nordstrom said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis incident demonstrated good co-ordination and communication between all police involved, including their go-with-the-flow attitudes, and amazing co-operation from members of the public.\u201d <\/p>\n

A 44-year-old woman will appear in the Whang\u0101rei District Court today, charged with breaching release conditions.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, an allegedly intoxicated man tried to flee officers<\/a> by jumping into the H\u0101tea River. <\/p>\n

A man was subsequently arrested. <\/p>\n
