\u201cSo the two girls went and basically removed all the items from her, and I went into the house to find a couple of men and another lady rifling through our underwear and things.\u201d<\/p>\n
Campbell said the trio then decided to try the \u201cgood cop, bad cop\u201d method.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe two girls, they\u2019re strong, powerful women and they went for that bad cop, \u2018Look, give us the stuff back, don\u2019t mess\u2019. And I went for the \u2018pretend to be best pals with the criminals, cosy in and then sneak everything out\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
While turning up at a potential criminal\u2019s house might fill some with dread, Campbell said their \u201chardcore accents from the backwaters of Scotland\u201d, with Charlotte\u2019s Northern Irish accent meant \u201cpeople aren\u2019t messing when they hear our voices\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven the hardest criminals, they\u2019re going to be running.\u201d<\/p>\n
Campbell said the residents at the house immediately gave their stuff back, and they even unscrewed their rings from the fingers of the thieves.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just rolled over for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Among the stolen goods the trio recovered were passports, sentimental jewellery, items from grandparents, laptops and even medication.<\/p>\n
When they returned home with the stolen goods, Campbell said the police were \u201ckind of eyes-wide-open that we\u2019d done our own search and recovery\u201d.<\/p>\n
And while they didn\u2019t receive a telling off from the police for undertaking their own detective work, the police did say their methods were \u201cvery unconventional\u201d.<\/p>\n
Campbell also said the local community has helped since the robbery.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve had colleagues offer me their husbands, their dogs, their homes, their cameras, you name it.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the trio is in New Zealand on work visas, the incident had not given a dim view of Aotearoa.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just love New Zealand. We love Fairlie pies, Kiwi dip, the Kumara races, Dave Dobbyn. It\u2019s a slice of heaven here.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is traumatising, it is shaking, but we\u2019re grateful and thankful for good Kiwis.\u201d<\/p>\n
While most of the items were recovered, Campbell said one yellow Croc is missing, and offered a reward if it is found.<\/p>\n

Police said there were a number of burglaries on Campbell\u2019s street on the same day, and advise to always put your safety first and call 111 if you\u2019re concerned for your safety.<\/p>\n
