{"id":401719,"date":"2026-04-28T15:46:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T15:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/401719\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T15:46:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T15:46:14","slug":"15-years-ago-apple-finally-released-the-white-iphone-4-after-a-300-day-delay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/401719\/","title":{"rendered":"15 years ago, Apple &#8216;finally&#8217; released the white iPhone 4 after a 300+ day delay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<img width=\"1600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/iphone-4-white.webp.jpeg\" class=\"skip-lazy wp-post-image\" alt=\"\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The white iPhone 4 release day is always a fun Apple anniversary for me to think about. <\/p>\n<p>It comes one week before I bought my first iPhone (the iPhone 4 in white, of course) and 308 days after the black iPhone 4 arrived in stores.<\/p>\n<p>Apple summed up the white iPhone 4 launch in one word: \u2018Finally\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Between the announcement and release, Apple spent six press releases covering the white iPhone 4:<\/p>\n<p>The white iPhone 4 delay only made for one of a few major storylines associated with the hardware. <\/p>\n<p>First, Antennagate that resulted in Apple giving away free iPhone Bumper cases. <\/p>\n<p>Then there was the Verizon iPhone launch, adding a second carrier in the U.S. that supported the iPhone.<\/p>\n<p>Something else that always surprises me when revisiting the iPhone 4 launch is when the hardware was originally announced and released.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Jobs announced the iPhone 4 at WWDC 2010, and the black version was in stores by the end of June. <\/p>\n<p>Summer iPhone releases were the norm with June or July launches for the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS.<\/p>\n<p>iPhone launches later shifted to the fall with the iPhone 4S in October 2011. <\/p>\n<p>Since then, Apple has previewed new iPhone software updates at WWDC in June, saving iPhone hardware updates for fall. <\/p>\n<p>More recently, we\u2019ve come to <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/03\/02\/apple-officially-announces-iphone-17e-with-magsafe-256gb-storage-more\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expect spring releases <\/a>as well with the iPhone 16e and iPhone 17e.
