The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/compare.php3?idPhone1=14456&amp;idPhone2=14457&amp;idPhone3=14320\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Galaxy S26 series<\/a> is seeing strong demand, and the recently launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/samsung_galaxy_a37_5g-14378.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Galaxy A37<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/samsung_galaxy_a57_5g-14379.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Galaxy A57<\/a> are also key contributors to Samsung\u2019s 22% market share.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"543\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/gsmarena_002.jpg\" alt=\"Omdia: Global smartphone shipments grew by 1% in Q1, fueled by supply side push\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Apple was the second leading brand for the period with 60.4 million shipments (up 10% YoY) while controlling an estimated 20% of the global market. Demand for the iPhone 17 series has remained strong, and the report also highlights higher-than-anticipated user interest for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/apple_iphone_17e-14487.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iPhone 17e<\/a> across Europe and Japan. The flagship <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/apple_iphone_17_pro-14049.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iPhone 17 Pro<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsmarena.com\/apple_iphone_17_pro_max-13964.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">17 Pro Max<\/a> also edged out their predecessors with an impressive 42% rise in demand across China.<\/p>\n<p>Xiaomi (including Redmi and Poco) came in third place with 33.8 million shipments and an 11% market share, but it also experienced the largest annual drop (-19%) in shipments in the top five. Rising component costs have effectively squeezed Xiaomi\u2019s margins.<\/p>\n<p>Oppo (including OnePlus and Realme) came in fourth with 30.7 million shipments and a 10% market share, while vivo ranked fifth with 21.3 million shipments and a 7% market share.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/gsmarena_004.jpg\" alt=\"Omdia: Global smartphone shipments grew by 1% in Q1, fueled by supply side push\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Omdia analysts predict turbulent times with a period of adjustment following the supply-side push by vendors.
