It will be broadcast between 6am and 6.30am, before Breakfast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Sherman has been under intense scrutiny over two matters in the past week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/business\/media-insider\/tvnz-political-editor-maiki-sherman-allegedly-used-a-homophobic-slur-in-an-incident-involving-lloyd-burr-in-finance-minister-nicola-willis-office\/premium\/K3ADI6IN7ZDN7P3W54KYBZBPKE\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/business\/media-insider\/tvnz-political-editor-maiki-sherman-allegedly-used-a-homophobic-slur-in-an-incident-involving-lloyd-burr-in-finance-minister-nicola-willis-office\/premium\/K3ADI6IN7ZDN7P3W54KYBZBPKE\/\">Political commentator Ani O\u2019Brien revealed this week that Sherman was involved in an incident<\/a> with another journalist, Lloyd Burr, in Finance Minister Nicola Willis\u2019 office in May last year, in which she allegedly directed a homophobic slur at Burr.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">The exact details of what led up to the alleged comment have not been revealed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/business\/media-insider\/media-insider-national-party-accuses-tvnz-press-gallery-staff-of-pressuring-mp-and-unacceptable-behaviour-tvnz-says-it-has-a-different-view\/premium\/SALYOKXFIFC3BDBGGUEHEED2MY\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/business\/media-insider\/media-insider-national-party-accuses-tvnz-press-gallery-staff-of-pressuring-mp-and-unacceptable-behaviour-tvnz-says-it-has-a-different-view\/premium\/SALYOKXFIFC3BDBGGUEHEED2MY\/\">The National Party also complained<\/a> about the way Sherman tried to interview whip Stuart Smith in a corridor late on Tuesday last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">National claimed TVNZ staff followed Smith into an area where interviews were not allowed without express permission, and aggressively banged on a door for several minutes.<\/p>\n<p><img  alt=\"TVNZ political editor Maiki Sherman.\" class=\"article-media__image responsively-lazy\" data-test-ui=\"article-media__image\"\/>TVNZ political editor Maiki Sherman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">For that specific, latter incident, Speaker Gerry Brownlee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/business\/media-insider\/media-insider-tvnz-political-editor-maiki-sherman-handed-a-five-day-ban-by-parliament-speaker-source\/55ZRADDUHFGBHG3AE7SQKMSZBA\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/business\/media-insider\/media-insider-tvnz-political-editor-maiki-sherman-handed-a-five-day-ban-by-parliament-speaker-source\/55ZRADDUHFGBHG3AE7SQKMSZBA\/\">has banned Sherman from covering Parliament for five days.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">He said that the five-day suspension was \u201cthe most appropriate course of action\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">He said Sherman \u201cwent beyond the prescription and spirit of the rules that had previously been agreed by the press gallery and Parliament\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cMs Sherman, the TVNZ political editor, has informed me that it was not her intention to go beyond the rules, but accepts that she did, and has accepted also the decision on this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">The state broadcaster earlier defended the behaviour of its staff but said it was up to the Speaker to determine whether there had been a breach of Parliamentary press gallery rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Brownlee also said  on Wednesday: \u201cAt the same time, I would point out that other outlets also breached parliamentary rules as they pursued a story relating to the National Party caucus activities on April 21.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cWhile I\u2019m not able to identify individuals who were part of those breaches, I have been aware that the TVNZ political editor engaged in attempts to secure an interview that went beyond the prescription and spirit of the rules that had previously been agreed by the press gallery and Parliament.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">He said his decision \u201cmeans that all aspects of the protocols between the Parliament represented by the Speaker\u2019s office and the press gallery have been satisfied\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>PM\u2019s Singapore visit<\/p>\n<p><img  alt=\"Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is questioned by TVNZ political editor Maiki Sherman. File photo \/ Mark Mitchell<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">The PM\u2019s office this week said Luxon would be leaving for Singapore on Sunday and returning on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Willis and Minister for Trade and Investment Todd McClay are also on the trip.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Luxon will take part in the inaugural Singapore-New Zealand Leadership Forum and meet Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cSingapore is one of New Zealand\u2019s most important partners in Southeast Asia, and we back each other when it matters, including as global fuel and supply-chain disruptions put pressure on our economies,\u201d Luxon said.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">As part of the trip, he would witness the signing of an agreement to help keep \u201cessential trade flowing in times of crisis and supply-chain disruption\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cWith a third of New Zealand\u2019s fuel refined in Singapore, this relationship has a direct bearing on New Zealand\u2019s economic security.
