William Golding\u2019s 1954 literary classic gets the television treatment with this four-part Netflix adaptation, an import from the BBC written by Adolescence<\/a> co-creator Jack Thorne and directed by Marc Munden (Utopia<\/a>, National Treasure<\/a>). As on page, the dystopian drama centers on a group of English schoolboys\u2014played by newcomers like Winston Sawyers, Lox Pratt, David McKenna and Ike Talbut, among others\u2014who become desert-island castaways when their plane crashes into the Pacific in the early 1950s. Everybody knows Elizabeth Bennet\u2014now get to know her younger and often-overlooked sister, Mary. Played by Ella Bruccoleri, the middle Bennet daughter gets her moment in the spotlight via this adaptation of the 2020 Janice Hadlow novel, itself a continuation of Jane Austen\u2019s iconic Pride And Prejudice. With the other Bennet girls getting snatched up by eligible bachelors, Mary travels around England on a journey of self-discovery and romance. Ruth Jones, Richard E. Grant, Poppy Gilbert, and Indira Varma also star. The A.V. Club\u2019s review will drop Wednesday. <\/p>\n The Terror: Devil In Silver (AMC+ and Shudder, Thursday, 3 a.m., season-three premiere)<\/p>\n The third installment of AMC\u2019s The Terror horror anthology, Devil In Silver is based on creator Victor LaValle\u2019s 2012 novel of the same name, with Dan Stevens starring as Pepper, a working-class man who is wrongfully committed to the dark and dire New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital. There, Pepper not only has to deal with sinister doctors and adversarial patients but also the supernatural forces thrumming throughout the institution. The six-episode season also features Judith Light, CCH Pounder, Aasif Mandvi, John Benjamin Hickey, and Stephen Root, with Ridley Scott signed on as an executive producer. Look out for The A.V. Club\u2019s review on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n Amadeus (Starz, Friday, 8 p.m., miniseries premiere)<\/p>\n The White Lotus alum Will Sharpe dons the powdered wig and musical genius of a twentysomething Wolfgang \u201cAmadeus\u201d Mozart in this Starz limited series, which explores the prodigy\u2019s less-than-historically accurate heated rivalry with respected court composer Antonio Salieri (Paul Bettany) in bustling 18th-century Vienna. As Amadeus juggles both professional triumphs and personal demons, Salieri grows increasingly envious, kicking off a decades-spanning obsession that threatens to consume both men. Check out The A.V.
