\n The range features a soothing colour palette of white and sage green stoneware in the mix, with glassware, nibble bowls, linen napkins and serveware, which she describes as bringing a sense of quiet luxury into the home.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cAll the beautiful glasses with the white base,\u201d referencing the footed wine glasses. \u201cAnd the striped white glass [tumblers], I just love that\u2026 it evokes summer.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n With side and dinner plates to dish up your favourite recipes, the collection also features a playful slogan platter\u2026\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cBig salads, meats and fish, whatever you want to put on it, but I love the fact it just says Bon App\u00e9tit.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cIt\u2019s happy. We need happiness. We all need those positive affirmations at the moment. And why not have it on a plate?\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n When it comes to laying the foundations for a beautiful tablescape, Hoppen doesn\u2019t play by the rules. \u201cIf I ever drink wine, which occasionally I will, I\u2019ll drink it in a tumbler with ice. I love that\u2026 I just like it.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cEveryone always laughs at me, but I like mixing. You might have some old glass that\u2019s crystal, but mix it in with my new collection \u2013 I like the mix of it, so there are no rules.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n But she does play it old school with a seating plan. \u201cI always do a name card. I think it\u2019s easier, because when you\u2019ve got 12 people coming to sit down for dinner and people go, \u2018where do I want to sit?\u2019\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cWell, if they can see their name, and I just draw it really nicely, it makes it easier.\u201d And sometimes she switches out place cards for something less formal.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI\u2019ve got luggage tags, like the old-fashioned luggage tags, and I write their name on that and put it on the napkin\u2026 and that\u2019s quite nice.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Especially if it\u2019s a casual, mid-week meal. \u201cWhen you say \u2018come over for a kitchen supper,\u2019 that doesn\u2019t mean it can\u2019t be stylish and gorgeous,\u201d highlights Hoppen.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cYou know, it\u2019s the same way as people say, \u2018What shall I wear?\u2019 I say, \u2018Come in jeans, come in whatever you want, whatever you\u2019re comfortable in.\u2019\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cBecause the more comfortable people feel when they\u2019re out for dinner in somebody\u2019s home, or you\u2019re in your home, the better the night is.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cAnd then it gets to midnight, and people are like \u2018Oh, it\u2019s a school night\u2026 we\u2019ve got to go home, but we don\u2019t want to\u2026 that\u2019s a good night.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n In contrast to her modern style and author of 10 books focusing on contemporary chic, Ms Hoppen also likes to bring quirky accessories to the table.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cWhen it comes to pudding, we always do a really nice cake. Everyone loves custard, so we\u2019ll make a nice custard.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cBut I put my custard in a glass teapot, and that looks nice. So interesting ways to do things on the table that you wouldn\u2019t expect\u2026 that people will take away thinking \u2018God, that was cool.\u2019\n<\/p>\n
\n She\u2019s also a firm believer in blending the old with the new. \u201cAll the stuff my mother\u2019s given me, I mix it in\u2026 so nice bits of silver, I love all of that.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI think the more you can mix, the better. And it takes the pressure off people to know that that\u2019s okay, because we\u2019ve all got stuff we\u2019ve had before, but we want to buy new things.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cIt\u2019s the same way you dress. You\u2019ve got something from years ago, you put something new with it; it feels new. So I think it\u2019s fine.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n To top the most stylish tables, summer blooms make a big impact, and Hoppen\u2019s love for flowers is well-storied. \u201cI think you have to keep it at a low level.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI mean, it kind of drives me mad. I love the idea of having food all the way down the centre of the table, because it feels very Italian and family.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe problem is, I love flowers down the centre of the table, so I\u2019m always juggling for space with my own self; but you\u2019ve always got to keep everything low.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cBut there\u2019s nothing better than some beautiful flowers down the centre, and then you\u2019ve got big things of bread and big chunks of butter, and it\u2019s a celebration when you have people round.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Moreover, she says you can use anything you\u2019ve got to put them in, and suggests thinking out of the box.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cEven if you\u2019ve got Pyrex mixing bowls because you haven\u2019t got anything else, you can float flowers in them and put them down the centre of the table.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Hoppen continues: \u201cIf you\u2019ve got baked bean tins, take the baked bean wrapper off and fill that with herbs; and do herbs down the centre of your table.\n<\/p>\n
