{"id":410878,"date":"2026-05-04T06:41:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T06:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/410878\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T06:41:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T06:41:08","slug":"measles-wellington-third-case-linked-to-newtown-restaurant-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/410878\/","title":{"rendered":"Measles Wellington: Third case linked to Newtown restaurant visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cLocations of interest are still being assessed, and these will be published as soon as they are available,\u201d Health New Zealand said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Medical Officer of Health Dr Richard Vipond said people who were walk-up diners at Mediterranean Foods Trattoria &amp; Deli on April 19, and who are not immune to measles, may now be developing symptoms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cAnyone who was at the restaurant on Sunday, April 19, should be alert for symptoms such as the start of a skin rash through to Sunday, May 10,\u201d Vipond said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">He said if symptoms develop, it was important that people stayed at home and sought advice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThere are several locations of interest linked to previous cases, and people are encouraged to monitor for symptoms if they have been to one of those locations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cMeasles is a serious and highly infectious illness, which can affect adults as well as children and babies,\u201d Vipond said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wrLLDwyWye\" style=\"display:none\">Symptoms of measles include:<\/p>\n<p>A runny nose, fever, cough, sore watery pink eyes (conjunctivitis) and a rash that develops a few days after fever. Fever (higher than 38C) is still present at the time of rash onset.A rash, beginning on the face and gradually spreading down the body to the arms and legs.
