\n carpet is \u2018Fashion Is Art\u2019. It draws on the opening of the Met\u2019s exhibition Costume Art<\/a> which explores the \u201cdressed body\u201d through both garments and artworks \u2013 revealing the inherent relationship between clothing, the body and art. Curator Andrew Bolton says the exhibition will also centre bodies often ignored in art history<\/a>.\n <\/p>\n
Hosts, editors, tech moguls and attendees are arriving on the red carpet \u2013 which is a cream colour painted with green (it resembles moss growing in between paving stones). <\/p>\n
Beyonc\u00e9, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour are co-chairs for the event and will also walk the carpet. <\/p>\n
There will be a break in tradition as Mayor Zohran Mamdani becomes the first New York City mayor since 2002 to skip the event (to avoid drawing focus from his ongoing work to make the city more affordable, he told press). <\/p>\n
However, there are two other guests \u2013 honorary chairs Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez \u2013 who have conjured the most attention pre-Gala. <\/p>\n
