An innovator in China has successfully launched a self-developed low-cost rocket, proving the feasibility of budget space exploration to the world.

In February, the 12m Shenzhen Pioneer rocket made local history in China’s remote northeastern Qinghai province, reaching a record altitude of 3,700m and setting a new regional benchmark for liquid rocket launches.

Built by a five-person team led by 31-year-old Lu Yulong, the rocket took just 15 days to build in Shenzhen.

Lu, a self-taught innovator from Jiangxi province in eastern China, has long been captivated by chemistry, high-voltage electricity and rockets.

His childhood fascination began when an accidental encounter with a corrosive acid left him with severe burns but sparked a lifelong passion for science.

In primary school, Lu taught himself secondary chemistry in just one year and began experimenting with explosives.

In 2007, a mishap during a high-energy materials experiment at home led to an explosion.

An innovator in China has successfully launched a self-developed low-cost rocket, proving the feasibility of budget space exploration…

[23
48339,10472,1402,76095,9556,2943,13985,11357,51003,3352,6184,607,4444,3088,28645,162194,18092,69492,8696,211992,516,19056,14739,211994,2354,40737,57410,3029,13741,211991,211993,204965,26885,738,1437,5267,5838,122639,1861,1345,2241,104,175878,131720,62783,11113,13451,1743,21820,21817,48934,39861,211990,2064,49539,48233,7239,3805,111,139,123470,69,179714,6300,35923,3766,5823,59888,42448,6177,1974,1518,17077,70444,13650,3175,5945,16610,118599,4062,147,2242,47895,118661,2848,43044,6358,1414,392,1503,13737,211995,37365,172436,313,6290,5824,7187,13939,169243,274,5427,192534
post-412273","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-space","tag-accidental","tag-acid","tag-aerospace","tag-altitude","tag-artificial","tag-base","tag-benchmark","tag-budget","tag-burns","tag-chemistry","tag-childhood","tag-china","tag-chinese","tag-commercial","tag-competitive","tag-corrosive","tag-countryside","tag-courtyard","tag-device","tag-electricty","tag-elon-musk","tag-encounter","tag-expensive","tag-experimenting","tag-exploration","tag-explosion","tag-explosives","tag-eye","tag-factory","tag-faesability","tag-fascination","tag-flame","tag-fractured","tag-funding","tag-global","tag-goal","tag-help","tag-high-voltage","tag-history","tag-home","tag-hospital","tag-injuries","tag-innovator","tag-invention","tag-iris","tag-kitchen","tag-laboratory","tag-launched","tag-lens","tag-lifelong","tag-liquid","tag-low-cost","tag-madman","tag-madness","tag-medals","tag-mishap","tag-mission","tag-network","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-noble","tag-nz","tag-objection","tag-obsession","tag-orbit","tag-parents","tag-passion","tag-patent","tag-pioneer","tag-primary","tag-record","tag-research","tag-research-and-development","tag-reusable","tag-rocket","tag-rural","tag-sacrifice","tag-satellites","tag-scars","tag-school","tag-science","tag-secondary","tag-secretly","tag-self-taught","tag-severe","tag-shattered","tag-shenzhen","tag-social-media","tag-space","tag-spacex","tag-spirit","tag-stitches","tag-stove","tag-strengths","tag-super","tag-surgery","tag-talent","tag-team","tag-temperature","tag-thrust","tag-travel","tag-unique","tag-viable
["GET
