\u201cA 23-year-old woman was taken into custody over the incident, and the person with injuries was transported to a medical centre on Swanson Rd,\u201d Detective Inspector Callum McNeill said.<\/p>\n
A detective and frontline staff were with that victim when a separate incident unfolded outside.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur officers have become aware of a commotion outside, where a person had been running away after being stabbed in the head,\u201d McNeill said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOfficers have moved outside to ascertain what was taking place, when they have seen the offender that had been chasing the victim.\u201d<\/p>\n

McNeill said the offender was allegedly carrying a knife when he lunged at two officers, knocking one over and striking his body armour.<\/p>\n
The offender then ran off and allegedly stabbed another member of the public, who was waiting for a bus, in the shoulder.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur detective has suffered graze injuries and it is extremely fortunate that these were not serious injuries. The other officer was not injured.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe offender, a 29-year-old man, was swiftly taken into custody by other police colleagues nearby as they were already on scene due to the earlier incident.\u201d<\/p>\n
McNeill said the victims from the second event are in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was an extremely concerning event, and I can reassure the wider community that our inquiries suggest that we are dealing with two separate and isolated incidents.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shaneel Ranjay, a manager at The Fading Hub barber shop in the same block of shops, said the Local Doctors \u2013 R\u0101nui carpark was sealed off and people were told not to leave, with 12 police cars at the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cSomebody got stabbed at the back where the local doctors are. And then an old man got stabbed on the way when the police were chasing the suspect,\u201d Ranjay told the Herald.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe old man who got stabbed, he was trying to stop the suspect and then that\u2019s when he got stabbed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ranjay said it was the first serious incident at the building and has been \u201ctough\u201d for the businesses in the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cApparently the barbershop over here, we are all good. The Local Doctors there were quite tense because this is the first incident which happened in our building.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo yeah, it\u2019s quite a tough moment because we have never seen something like this happen in our building before.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hato Hone St John said it was notified of the incident about 11.59am and two patients were taken to hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cFour ambulances, one rapid response unit and one operations manager responded to the scene,\u201d St John said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur ambulance staff treated two patients and transported one to North Shore Hospital in a moderate condition, and the other to Auckland Hospital in a serious condition.\u201d<\/p>\n
