{"id":415335,"date":"2026-05-07T00:02:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T00:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/415335\/"},"modified":"2026-05-07T00:02:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T00:02:09","slug":"anthropic-raises-claude-code-usage-limits-credits-new-deal-with-spacex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/415335\/","title":{"rendered":"Anthropic raises Claude Code usage limits, credits new deal with SpaceX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN FRANCISCO\u2014At its Code with Claude developer conference on Wednesday, Anthropic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anthropic.com\/news\/higher-limits-spacex\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a> a deal with SpaceX to utilize the entire compute capacity of the latter\u2019s data center in Memphis, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>On stage at the conference, CEO Dario Amodei said the deal was intended to increase usage limits for Anthropic\u2019s Pro and Max plan subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement was accompanied by an increase in those usage limits; Anthropic doubled Claude Code\u2019s five-hour window limits for Pro and Max subscribers, removed the peak-hours limit reduction on Claude Code for those same accounts, and raised API limits for its Opus model. For its part, SpaceX focused its announcement on the capability of the Colossus 1 supercomputer that\u2019s at the center of the deal. \u201cColossus 1 features over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including dense deployments of H100, H200, and next-generation GB200 accelerators,\u201d SpaceX <a href=\"https:\/\/x.ai\/news\/anthropic-compute-partnership\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Anthropic \u201cexpressed interest\u201d in working with SpaceX to build up \u201cmultiple gigawatts\u201d of orbital compute capacity, tying into a recent (but <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/space\/2026\/03\/orbital-data-centers-part-1-theres-no-way-this-is-economically-viable-right\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unproven<\/a>) focus on exploring orbital data centers as an answer to the problem that \u201ccompute required to train and operate the next generation of these systems is outpacing what terrestrial power, land, and cooling can deliver on the timelines that matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The deal might be surprising to those who have followed Musk\u2019s recent public comments\u2014he was, until now, critical of Anthropic.
