A new \u201cPride and Prejudice\u201d<\/a> spinoff, \u201cThe Other Bennet Sister,\u201d has become one of the most viewed BBC shows in the UK<\/a> over the past year, but that doesn\u2019t mean the star\u2019s of the show are feeling the impact in their real life. <\/p>\n

Series star Laurie Davidson exclusively joked to Page Six that the show\u2019s viral popularity hasn\u2019t changed his life, as he\u2019s only getting recognized \u201camong my mom\u2019s friends.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Davidson (pictured in \u201cThe Other Bennet Sister\u201d with Ella Bruccoleri) said the show\u2019s popularity in the UK hasn\u2019t impacted him that much. Brittbox\/ BBC<\/p>\n

Davidson, 34, quipped, \u201cI don\u2019t think things have changed, it\u2019s not like I\u2019m walking down the street and taxi drivers shout [commentary about the show]. Maybe that\u2019ll happen!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Based on a novel by Janice Hadlow, \u201cThe Other Bennet Sister\u201d<\/a> \u2014 which is streaming now on BritBox \u2014 follows Elizabeth Bennet\u2019s sister Mary (Ella Bruccoleri) after the events of \u201cPride and Prejudice.\u201d <\/p>\n

With all four of her siblings married off, Mary goes on her own adventure to London, and ends up in a love triangle with the earnest Tom Hayward (Donal Finn) and the cheerful William Ryder (Davidson).<\/p>\n

Finn, 30, exclusively told Page Six that since they play Austen heroes, they wanted to \u201creward\u201d fans with classic Darcy style moments. <\/p>\n

He noted iconic moments such as Matthew Macfadyen\u2019s famous hand flex in the 2005 version \u201cPride & Prejudice\u201d and Colin Firth\u2019s famous wet shirt scene<\/a>, as he steps out of a lake in the 1995 BBC miniseries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He explained that the show was \u201caware of what\u2019s come before,\u201d and they wanted to \u201cpay homage to those moments\u201d without feeling \u201coverly landed on\u201d and \u201cgetting carried away\u201d by doing too many tributes to past \u201cPride and Prejudice\u201d movies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Finn noted that the characters aren\u2019t \u201caware\u201d that they\u2019e in the middle of a \u201ccinematically iconic moment,\u201d so he was focused on playing the \u201ctruth\u201d of the scene,\u201d and then audiences \u201ccan put on it what they wish.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cYoung Sherlock\u201d actor said what he likes about \u201cThe Other Bennet Sister\u201d is that Mary is an unlikely protagonist.<\/p>\n
