Nominations for the 39th annual ARIA Awards have been revealed, with a host of Australian musicians and artists in the running to take home a pointy trophy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With 29 categories spanning multiple genres and disciplines, it once again reflects the strength and diversity of the local industry over the past year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Who\u2019s got the most ARIA nominations?<\/p>\n
Leading the nominees, with a whopping eight nods, is Central Coast producer Ninajirachi. Her debut album I Love My Computer<\/a> is vying in major categories like Album of the Year, Best Solo Artist, Best Independent and Electronic Release.\u00a0<\/p>\n A two-time triple j Unearthed High finalist, Nina Wilson has been\u00a0making music since she was 12 years old<\/a>. She brands her sound as “girl EDM”\u2014 a playful update on the 2010s electronic dance music genre dominated by men.\u00a0<\/p>\n We\u00a0hailed I Love My Computer<\/a> as an “instant classic that rewires nostalgia into a deliriously fun, addictive, innovative rush of rave-ready electro-pop”.\u00a0<\/p>\n NInajirachi’s full-length debut is among August’s best albums<\/a><\/p>\n In a massive month of new releases, these were 10 highlights we played over and over.\u00a0<\/p>\n Just behind Ninajirachi is Dom Dolla, with seven nominations. An ARIA favourite, the globally revered DJ and producer is in the running for Best Solo Artist, Best Australian Live Act, Best Video, Song of the Year, Best Engineer and Producer, and is the one to beat for Best Dance\/Electronic Release \u2013 the category he\u2019s conquered three times before.<\/p>\n Amyl and the Sniffers have six nominations, making a strong return to the ARIAs from the Melbourne pub-punks<\/a>.
