The source told the Herald the punter at the centre of the incident was 18 and had \u201cdone something minor wrong\u201d, which resulted in him being removed from the pub. <\/p>\n
They said he was guilty of \u201caccidentally dropping a glass at the bar\u201d, and security came up to \u201cgrab him and drag him out\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cSeveral witnesses were present, and there is clear video evidence of the incident showing the actions that took place,\u201d said the source.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey go far past the point of kicking someone out of a pub, clearly abusing their power and threatening him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe footage appears to show excessive and unnecessary force being used against the young man … plus verbal abuse.<\/p>\n
\u201cA number of people who witnessed the incident are extremely concerned about the conduct displayed and believe the matter deserves public attention and investigation.\u201c<\/p>\n
The source said the alleged assault was \u201cnot an isolated incident and there had been \u201drepeated concerns\u201d about the pub\u2019s security staff \u201cabusing their position and authority when dealing with members of the public\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a growing feeling within the community that there has been a serious abuse of power by some bouncers at the venue.\u201d<\/p>\n
